ATM Gymnastics has been competing in the USA Gymnastics Developmental Program (formerly Junior Olympic Program) Levels 2-10 since 1993. We were actually the first gym that offered USA Gymnastics competition in Southeastern Minnesota! We also added the USA Gymnastics Xcel Program to our gym in 2013 as a way to expose our lower level competitive gymnasts to the fun and showmanship of optional routines. The nice thing about USA Gymnastics' Xcel Program is that it remains a progressively sound program based on a gymnast's ability, while rewarding good form and execution of the basic skills for each level rather than just throwing a bunch of tricks to try to earn a higher score. We have continued to compete both the Developmental Program and Xcel interchangeably ever since, based on what we believe is best for a particular gymnast or our team at the time. Below are some basic descriptions of each of the competitive levels we offer, with an approximation of the equivalent Developmental Program and Xcel levels:
